Home page of Official website of Panayiotis Demopoulos, composer and performer
The distinction between writing and playing is essentially one of discrete time flows. Writing a moment of music may take weeks of listening, when playing an hour of music may only be about clustering moments. The composer of music produces work which amounts to a series of suggestions, a mere ghost of musical ideas. The performer reviews these suggestions and presents a fleeting, concrete reality that is inevitably removed from the initial idea; i.e. the point of contact between composer and performer is the point of neither.
